1. Adi Dravidar & Tribal Welfare Scholarship

Sanctioning Authority: Tamil Nadu State Government & Government of India

Income Limit:

  • ₹2,00,000 for SCC (Scheduled Caste Converted Christians) students
  • ₹2,50,000 for SC / SCA / ST students

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Students belonging to the SC / ST / SCC / SCA communities are eligible to apply.
  • The candidate must be pursuing a full-time diploma course at Merit Polytechnic College.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Tuition Fee: ₹35,000 per year
  • Allowance Fee: ₹2,500 per year

This scholarship aims to empower underprivileged students by providing them with access to quality technical education without financial burden.

2. Tamil Pudhalvan Scheme

Sanctioning Authority: Government of Tamil Nadu

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Male students who studied from 6th to 12th standard in Government or Government-aided schools with Tamil as the medium of instruction are eligible.
  • Must be pursuing higher studies in recognized institutions.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • ₹1,000 per month

This scheme was introduced to motivate Tamil medium students to continue higher education and enhance their employability.

3. Beedi Scholarship

Sanctioning Authority: Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India

Income Limit: Parents’ annual income should not exceed ₹10,000 per month

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The student’s parent(s) must be registered Beedi workers.
  • The applicant must be a regular student enrolled in a full-time diploma course.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • ₹6,000 per annum

This initiative supports the children of Beedi workers to pursue technical and professional education by reducing their financial constraints.

4. AICTE Pragathi Scholarship (For Girl Students Only)

Sanctioning Authority: All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi

Income Limit: ₹2,00,000 per annum (family income)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Open exclusively to female students admitted to AICTE-approved institutions.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in the first year of a diploma course.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • ₹50,000 per year to cover tuition fees, books, and equipment expenses.

This flagship scheme aims to promote technical education among women and encourage them to take up leadership roles in engineering and technology sectors.

5. Pudhumai Penn Scheme (Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme)

Sanctioning Authority: Government of Tamil Nadu

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Female students who completed their schooling in Government Schools and are pursuing higher education in recognized institutions are eligible.
  • No income limit applicable.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • ₹1,000 per month (credited directly to the student’s bank account until course completion).

This scheme empowers girl students from government schools by providing consistent financial support to help them complete higher studies confidently.

Application & Renewal Process

  • Eligible students should collect application forms from the Scholarship Section at the college office or download them from the respective government portals.
  • The filled-in forms must be submitted with supporting documents such as community certificate, income certificate, mark sheets, and bank passbook copy.
  • Renewal applications must be submitted at the beginning of each academic year along with a progress report and attendance certificate.
  • The college’s Scholarship Coordinator assists students in verifying eligibility, compiling required documents, and tracking disbursement.
